Chronic pain after hernia repair is common and often multifactorial. This page provides practical guidance for assessment, initial management, and referral of patients with post-hernia and chronic groin pain.

Referrals & telehealth

Referrals are welcome for patients with persistent pain following hernia surgery, chronic groin pain, nerve-related pain, or diagnostic uncertainty.

Telehealth consultations are suitable for initial assessment, advice, and follow-up for patients unable to attend in person.

Early referral can assist with diagnosis, targeted management, and avoidance of unnecessary investigations or interventions.
